Charles Joseph Pell Architects Incorporated (CJP Architects) was established in December 1993.

CJP Architects has experience that is broad and abilities that are well proven;  it is an award winning architectural firm having received a 1995 Central Illinois - American Institute of Architects Honor Award for a new residence on Sunset Lake in Girard, Illinois.  This project was featured in the Heartland Magazine of The State Journal-Register on May 2, 1997.

Since its founding, CJP Architects has completed several diverse projects for the Capital Development Board of the State of Illinois, designed the new Social Security Administration offices for the Government Services Administration, and completed many other various private and public projects such as the new Multi-Purpose Addition to the Washington Park Botanical Garden in Springfield, Illinois.

CJP Architects designed Springfield, Illinois’ first green roof featured in The State Journal-Register on August 6, 2007.  They designed a renovation of Butler Elementary School for Springfield Public School District #186 where the next generation of fluorescent lighting was integrated for the first time.

It was in the January 26, 2006 issue of the Illinois Times following the opening of the Architecture as Art exhibit at the Springfield Art Association the following was written as a part of an editorial entitled Give us more artchitecture:  “A star of the show is Chuck Pell, whose colorful and whimsical original furniture greets you in the center of the gallery.  The bold designs of his CJP Architects, including the successful new Conservation World at the state fairgrounds, give hope for a brighter, livelier town.”
